If you are attending an event at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre, we recommend you to arrive early and plan for traffic delays.
Driving to UBC
If you are arriving from SW Marine Drive or 16th Avenue, head North on East Mall from 16th Avenue (do not take Wesbrook Mall).
If you are arriving from NW Marine Drive/Chancellor Blvd, head South on Wesbrook Mall and turn right on Thunderbird Blvd to park at Thunderbird Parkade OR turn right on Agronomy Rd to park at Health Sciences Parkade where exit times at the end of the event are normally much quicker.
Thunderbird & Health Sciences Parkades
While Thunderbird Parkade is the closest parking facility to the event, parking at Health Sciences Parkade, an extra 5 minute walk, will enable you to find parking more quickly. Parking at Health Sciences Parkade will also allow you to drive out of the facility with a much shorter delay at the end of the event.
Parking Event Rates
UBC Parking uses a “pay by plate” system – note your plate and pay for parking at the pay machines after you’ve parked your car.
During evening concerts and large events at Doug Mitchell arena, Health Sciences Parkade may offer a reduced event rate compared to Thunderbird Parkade.

It’s easy – either use the app or do it online at www.honkmobile.com. Please note that pre-paid parking is available through HonkMobile only and not through UBC Parking.
