Getting Here

Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre is easily accessible by car and transit. For directions, please click here.

Parking

Event parking is located at Thunderbird Parkade which is conveniently only a 2 minute walk from the venue. UBC Parking is a ‘Pay-by-Plate’ system so please note your plate before you pay at the pay machines in the parkade. There is also street parking available. For more information, visit our parking page.

How To Get Into The Event

Please enter through the main entrance along Wesbrook Mall. Have your mobile or printed tickets ready to be scanned by our ticket takers at the entrance.

Please review the list of Prohibited Items prior to arriving on site so your entry to the event will go smoothly.

Will Call

Will Call is located at the Wesbrook Boulevard entrance and opens at 3:30pm. Anyone picking up tickets from Will Call must ensure they have the matching credit card used to purchase the tickets, photo I.D., and the confirmation number of the ticket order.

VIP Tickets

Guests with VIP1 “The D.R.E.A.M. VIP Meet & Greet Experience” tickets will pick up their tickets at the VIP check-in table located outside the front entrance near the flagpoles.

Guests with “Boomerang” & “Kid In A Candy Store” VIP Packages can pick up their merchandise inside the arena at the dedicated VIP merchandise stand on the east concourse, left of the stairs after you enter the building.

Strobe Lights

Please be aware that strobe lights will be used during the performance.

Prohibited Items

In addition to our list of Prohibited Items, the following items are NOT PERMITTED into the show:

  • Professional Cameras, Audio/Video Recorders, iPads, Go-Pro’s or Selfie-Sticks
  • Laser Pointers, Glow Sticks, or Flash Lights
  • Knives, Tasers, Mace, or Weapons of any kind
  • Cans, Bottles (Glass, Aluminum, or Plastic)
  • Spiked Jewelry, Spiked Belts, or Wallet Chains

BC Day Long Weekend Hours

The Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre will have adjusted hours for the BC Day Long Weekend – Saturday, Aug 3 – Monday, August 5

Saturday August 3: 1:30pm – 9:00pm
Sunday August 4: 1:00pm – 7:00pm
Monday August 5: CLOSED

Administration Offices will be closed Aug 3 – 5


2019-20 UBC Thunderbird Hockey Schedules Released

VANCOUVER – The UBC Thunderbirds Men’s & Women’s hockey schedules for the 2019/2020 season are now out! Take in all the action right here at Doug Mitchell Thunderbird Sports Centre.

 

The UBC Thunderbird Men’s Hockey Team begin their season on Aug 30 with a pair of exhibition games against the Wisconsin Badgers which include two draft picks from this year’s NHL draft, Alex Turcotte (5th pick – Los Angeles Kings) and Cole Caufield (15th pick – Montreal Canadiens). The T-Birds begin their Canada West season on Sept 27 against the University of Alberta here at home.

For the UBC Thunderbird Women’s Hockey team that finished last season 20-9-5, they begin their 2019 campaign on the road against Alberta on Oct 4. Their first home games will be against the Calgary Dinos on Friday, Oct 11 & Saturday, Oct 12.
